Glue color drawings were made eight or ten at a time. At the end of a drawing session, Frederick Sommer would look at what was produced that day and distinguish which ones he found more visually interesting. Because of the inexpensive nature of the ingredients involved, Sommer could discard or "plough under" what did not catch his eye.
